Detroit Audubon Positions Available

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Job Description: This is a part-time professional position which serves as a public face of the  organization and handles the logistics of day-to-day operations in the office of this growing environmental non-profit.  The administrator manages and updates information from our donor/member/volunteer/partner database using Bloomerang (CRM software); manages logistics of our yearly donation appeal, and manages and maintains our website. The administrator will also be heavily involved in membership development; maintain compliance reports and applications; manage our small travelling bookstore and serve as receptionist.  

Requirements and Qualifications:  

  • Comprehensive experience with Bloomerang or other CRM including ability to maintain donor, membership and volunteer records
  • Great written communicator and excellent at relationship building skills
  • Hyper-organized and detail oriented
  • Several years experience working with membership programs
  • Experience with WordPress and website maintenance
  • Great at finding ways to make things more efficient
  • Experience writing press releases and media management a plus
  • Experience working with nonprofits desired

Terms of employment:  This is currently a part-time position that the organization plans to upgrade to full-time as funds become available.  Pay rate and work schedule are negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience. PROGRAM COORDINATOR

Job Description: This is part-time (25 hour per week) professional position which will grow to a full-time position in the future, when funding alllows.  The incumbent will develop, conduct, and train volunteers to conduct environmental education programs for all age groups, with particular emphasis on birds. The incumbent will also coordinate or assist in coordinating special events, and coordinate exhibits at conservation-related shows and conferences. The incumbent will also be our social media coordinator, and will write articles for each issue of our magazine and newsletter. Other duties include disseminating publicity about the organization and its events through a variety of media and answering natural history questions over the phone.  Some issue advocacy may also be required.  

Skills and Qualifications:  Two years of coursework in Environmental Education, Environmental Interpretation, Environmental Science or equivalent (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree preferred). Extensive experience designing and conducting environmental education programs for K-12 groups and adults required. Must have extensive knowledge of Michigan natural history.  Birding experience strongly preferred.  Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, and must be proficient with MS Office Suite, Internet, and Facebook.  Experience in website development and maintenance also required.  Experience with Bloomerang CRM software a plus. Must be a self-starter, organizer, and a networker.

Terms of employment:  This is a permanent position that the organization hopes to upgrade to a full-time positon as funds become available.  Starting wage is $17/ hour.
