* Proposed Endangered and Threatened Species List. Hearing to be held in April 1999.The 200 acre Humbug Marsh complex provides nesting, feeding and migration habitat for at least 65 species of birds. It is also critical spawningand nursery habitat for at least 45 species of fish, with some estimates of number of fish species using the area as high as 117. This is the only slow moving, shallow partof the Detroit River. The rest of the shoreline is fastmoving anddeep and so not suitable for fish reproduction. The recreationalfishery adds at least $1.5 million annually to the local economy
