BIRDING-HAWKFEST

MISSION

Hawkfest at Lake Erie Metropark

Saturday & Sunday, September 17 &18

Come join us at Hawkfest this weekend. There will be fun and educational things to do for the whole family. There are live hawks and owls to see and learn about, banding demonstrations, an eagle nest to climb in, lots of hawk and owl games, speakers who have expertise on hawks and owls, food and much more.

There is also a breakfast on Sunday before festivities get going. While you are there go down to the boat ramp and count hawks flying over with the official hawk counters. One September day a few years ago over 500,000 Broadwinged Hawks were counted in just one dayj!!!!

Also we could use your help at Hawkfest. Detroit Audubon always has a booth at hawkfest. We need volunteers to help tell Detroit Audubon's story, interest them in becoming members and sell books at our traveling bookstore. If you can help please call Jim Bull at

313-928-2950 or email him at jamesbull22@yahoo.com

To get to Hawkfest take I-75 to the Gibraltar exit. Turn R. on Jefferson. Look for the entrance to Lake Erie Metropark on your left. You will need day a daily or seasonal pass to enter.
